Silverthorne received its name from Judge Marshal Silverthorn, who staked his gold mining claim in the valley in 1881. The "e" was added to the name in the 1930s because it was considered fashionable and chic. Over 100 years later, Silverthorne continues to be "the gateway to Summit County," as it is less than an hour's drive to Denver. Four of Summit County's world-class ski resorts are within 20 minutes, making the town an ideal place to visit and live.

Dillon is perfectly situated on the scenic shores of the Lake Dillon Reservoir, with recreation, entertainment, relaxation, and pure fun all at your doorstep. Copper Mountain

Copper Mountain with 2,450 acres, is Summit County's largest ski area. At Copper, you can enjoy Colorado's first high-speed detachable six-passenger chairlift, the "Super Bee," and an award-winning trail system that naturally separates snow riders by their ability levels. The Village at Copper is a pedestrian-only, high-alpine community with spectacular Colorado views. In the summer, you can hike, bike and golf on a championship course.

Park County is home to North America's highest incorporated town, Alma, at an elevation of 10,578. Buena Vista

Buena Vista boasts longer summers with world-class water sports and stunning mountain views. Twin Lakes is a quaint town located at the base of Colorado's highest peak, Mt. Elbert, and on the shores of the Twin Lakes. In the summer, the East entrance to Independence Pass takes you to Aspen in only 36 miles. It is wild yet quiet and provides the solitude to enjoy the outdoors in a truly unique way.
